PRIEST RIVER – Longtime West Bonner County School District Head Wrestling Coach Quinton Holbrook resigned from his position last week, “to focus on family” according to a social media post on the Priest River Spartan Wrestling Facebook page. “Today, we take a moment to recognize and thank Coach Holbrook for everything he has meant to our wrestling program and the Priest River community,” assistant coach Steve Lamb wrote.

Coach Holbrook has been a community fixture of the Priest River wrestling program, coaching youth wrestling, leading the middle school program, and serving the past seven years as varsity head coach. He has coached 15 wrestling state placers and three individual state champions, which represents half of all the individual state champions in school history.

Holbrook’s impact extended beyond the boys’ program as well. Under his leadership, he helped establish girls’ wrestling in Priest River and guided the program to historic milestones. During his time, Priest River saw its first two girls qualify for the state tournament and celebrated the first girls’ wrestler to win a match at state under his guidance.

“While the accomplishments on the mat speak for themselves, Coach Holbrook’s true impact goes far beyond medals and wins,” Lamb said. “The time, energy, and heart he poured into this program and into the lives of our athletes will leave a lasting mark for years to come…We wish him and his family nothing but happiness, success, and new adventures ahead.”
