CUSICK – Some changes are coming to the Cusick Food Pantry for the month of June, according to organizers. The pantry is open every Tuesday and is in the basement of Pend Oreille Bible Church.
“It has become necessary to re-organize the structure and operations of the Cusick food pantry,” Executive Leann Lee wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, May 25. “We are aware that this may cause some inconvenience and difficulties for our clients...we humbly apologize.”
According to Lee, to re-organize in a manner that is effective and to ensure smooth functioning of the pantry in the future, a temporary schedule is now in place. The pantry will be closed Tuesday, June 2 with no distributions. On June 9 and June 16, only monthly food boxes will be distributed. No walkthrough shopping. The pantry will resume normal operations June 23, if there are sufficient volunteers.
“Please rest assured it is our every intention to be up and running as usual by the last week of June,” Lee said. “Thank you for your patience while we re-organize.”
Volunteers are needed to help unload delivery trucks on Mondays and to assist with distribution days. There is some heavy lifting involved.
