Blanchard Library: A Community Treasure

BLANCHARD — Several members of the West Bonner County Friends of the Library visited Blanchard Library in April.

The library was able to purchase new bookshelves, paint the interior and exterior and update the landscaping.

The FOL members agreed that the library feels warm and welcoming.

FOL is a volunteer group that provides support for the library and its events and activities. The 503(c)(3) organization raises money by hosting an annual community auction every March at the Priest River event center with a beer and wine tasting. They also raise money from proceeds from Main Street Books, a used bookstore next to the Priest River Library that is open on Friday and Saturday mornings throughout the year.

“We keep our prices low because we want everyone to have the opportunity to read,” President Marie Prendergast said.

Take time this summer to visit the Blanchard Library and Main Street Books. FOL welcomes new volunteers as well as donations. FOL meets the second Tuesday of the month at noon in the Priest River Library. Go to westbonnerlibrary. org/friends-of-the-library.

Community invited to coffee, conversation

NEWPORT — The public is invited to Coffee and Conversation at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30 at My Sidewalk Café. Join area residents for a relaxed morning of connection, conversation and community. This casual meetup is designed for local service-based professionals who value building relationships, supporting one another and growing their business through referrals — not pressure or sales pitches.

Whether already well-established or still building a network, this is an opportunity to meet others, exchange ideas and make meaningful connections in a low-key, welcoming environment. There is no formal presentation or set-up.

My Sidewalk Café is located at 300 S. Washington Ave., Newport.
