DIAMOND LAKE – The Annual Tri Your Best Diamond Lake Triathlon is Saturday, Sept. 12, 8 a.m. at Cowles Scout Reservation. The event is open to youth and adults, amateurs and longtime triathletes.
Distance and course options include: SuperSprint – 200 yards swim, six miles bicycling, 1.5 miles trail run Sprint – 400 yards swim, 12 miles bicycling, three miles trail run Olympic – 1,600 yards swim, 23 miles bicycling, six miles trail run There are also relay options for Sprint and Olympic (one swimmer, one biker, one runner in teams of two or three people).
SuperSprint is for ages 11 and up and Sprint and Olympic are open to ages 18 and up. The Olympic course race starts promptly at 8 a.m. Check-in and set up is from 6-7:15 a.m. Informational talk starts at 7:15 a.m. Warmup for the swim is from 7:307:45 a.m. The Sprint course race starts at 9 a.m. Check in and set up are 7-8:15 a.m. The informational talk is at 8:15, followed by swim warm up from 8:30-8:45 a.m.
SuperSprint race starts at 10 a.m. with check in and set up from 8-9:15 a.m. Informational talk is at 9:15 a.m. and swim warm up is 9:30-9:45 a.m.
For those who want to preview the courses, they must come at scheduled times or by appointment only. The camp is private property with no trespassing. Available times are Friday, Sept. 4, Saturday, Sept. 5, Sunday, Sept. 6 or Monday, Sept. 7 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Meet at Finch parking lot off Bayview and Northshore Diamond Lake Road. Packet pickup is Friday, Sept. 11, 6-9 p.m. Early bird registration ends Tuesday, June 30 with price increases from July 1-31, Aug. 1-31 and Sept. 1-11. Included in the registration fee is a finisher t-shirt, medal, swim cap, electronic timed results and lunch from David’s Pizza. Coffee and breakfast vendors will be on site for separate purchases.
