Convicted felon pleads not guilty to charges

NEWPORT — A Newport man pleaded not guilty in Pend Oreille County Superior Court Thursday, June 18, on charges of first-degree assault domestic violence and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Victor Lee Bagley, 58, of Newport punched his girlfriend thrice before threatening to shoot her dead with a shotgun, according to court documents. He is not permitted to possess firearms, having previously been convicted of 12 felonies, 15 gross misdemeanors and eight misdemeanors, including two recent counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of driving under the influence.
