County Weed Board offers aquatic workshop

NEWPORT — Registration is open for the Pend Oreille County Noxious Weed Board’s 2026 Aquatic Life and Property Management Workshop.

Held in partnership with the Pend Oreille County Public Utility District, this workshop is an educational opportunity for aquatic recreationalists and landowners alike.

Expert speakers will identify resources available to waterfront stakeholders for the management of noxious aquatic weeds, while participants will engage in interactive, hands-on demonstrations focused on weed identification, native plant recognition and weed control techniques.

Join the Weed Board to learn about shoreline health, property improvements, how to use a bottom barrier for weed control and the importance of aquatic weed management for protecting county waterways.

The workshop is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 10 at the Camas Center for Community Wellness, 1821 LeClerc Rd. N. in Cusick. For in-person attendees, registration is required by Wednesday, July 8. An optional lunch is available for $10, with an official count due in advance.
