NEWPORT — In celebration of the U.S. Semiquincentennial, which marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, The Pend Oreille County Government hosted America250 at the Old County Courthouse Tuesday, June 30 in Newport. The event included appearances from local and regional government officials, patriotic song recitals by Newport School District students, a tree dedication and other activities. See more on page 2A.
