NEWPORT – Newport City Park will be the place to be on Saturday, Aug. 22, when the Newport Creative District is hosting its annual Ice Cream Social from 1-3 p.m.
This is a free community celebration featuring the legendary handmade flavors of Owen’s Ice Cream. Every attendee will receive a complimentary scoop to stay cool. For those feeling lucky, they are hosting a raffle for a massive Super Sundae. Tickets are $1 each, and every cent raised will be donated to support those affected by the Spokane Complex fires.
The park will be buzzing with energy and activities for the whole family: Face Painting; Live Performance: Watch the high-energy talents of the Inspire Dance Academy; Bike Parade: Kids are encouraged to deck out their rides in their most creative gear to join a vibrant parade through the park; Decoration Station: There will be a dedicated station ready to help kids add that extra sparkle to their bikes before the big procession.
Create hosting rhythm healing workshop
NEWPORT — Create Arts Center is hosting a Rhythm Healing workshop by Bill Moore this weekend, from 1–2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.
Attendees will explore their inner artist through this science-based process, according to a Create flyer.

Northwoods unleashes rock ‘n’ roll game show
NEWPORT — The 2nd Annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Game Show, directed by Lee Duke, is returning to the Circle Moon Theater for six performances from Aug. 13–15 and 20–22.
This Northwoods Performing Arts production blends the excitement of a live game show with the soundtrack of classic rock, inviting audiences to sing, shout, laugh and play right along with the cast. With live music, fast-paced games, audience participation and unexpected twists, no two performances are ever alike.
Tickets are $35 for the dinner and show, $14 for the show and $12 for seniors and children. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the curtain rises at 7:30 p.m., not 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at NorthwoodsPerformingArts.com, over the phone at 208-448-1294 and in person at Seeber’s Pharmacy in Newport.
