PRIEST LAKE – The Priest Lake Lions Club is holding its annual Turkey Shoot on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be located on Highway 57 behind HOT SHOTS coffee and Pete’s Service Center. All proceeds from this event are used to fund the club’s scholarship program which, since 1999, has given nearly $200,000 in college scholarships to deserving Priest Lake students.
Along with the chance to win one of 72 frozen turkeys, there will be a silent auction, a bake sale, various raffles, and a wine pull, plus barrel train rides and face painting for the kids.
Among items in the silent auction are a Priest Lake plane ride for two, a $100 Cavanaugh’s gift card, a $100 gift card from Hill’s Resort, a $200 gift card from the Leonard Paul Store, 18 holes of golf for four, a two-night stay at the Inn At Priest Lake with king bed, jacuzzi and kitchen, a nine hour boat rental from Crown Jewel, a cord of wood, a handcrafted coat rack and key shelf, a handcrafted log cabin birdhouse, and many more items.
Local food venders will be on hand. Priest Lake Brewery will host a beer garden, Hot Shots will have specials, and there will be a Mexican food truck. Pete Pecora, who owns the Service Center, will have his antique car show on display.
Since its charter in 1980, Priest Lake Lions Club members have contributed hundreds of hours of service each year, with the sole purpose of serving the community. With its many fundraisers throughout the year, the club helps to support several Priest Lake organizations and programs, including the Food Bank, EMTs, our local fire districts, Priest Lake Library, Priest Lake Groomer, Kid’s Fishing Derby, Priest Lake Memory Gardens, and various activities at the Priest Lake Elementary School. Through the Priest Lake Community Churches Outreach Association, the club also helps residents with immediate needs, groceries, utility bills, purchases of firewood and propane, and hearing aids, eyeglasses and other medical needs.
People can help by supporting the club’s fundraisers, donating, or becoming an active member. To serve as a Lions member, come to a meeting on the first Wednesday of each month (September -June) at 3 p.m. at Ardy’s in Coolin, and on the third Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Coolin Community Center.
