NEWPORT — The 12th Annual Newport Area Bike Rodeo is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Sadie Halstead Middle School. Geared towards kids, this event provides free bike helmets while supplies last, bike maintenance checks, a skills course, safety tips, snacks and prizes. Participants should bring their own bike and be accompanied by an adult.
Free food distributions Sept. 10
NEWPORT – There will be a free food distribution through 2nd Harvest at the Newport Rodeo Grounds Thursday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon. This is a drive-thru event while supplies last. No documentation or appointment required. The event is sponsored by the Newport American Lutheran Church.
Access the rodeo grounds from Garden Avenue across from 103 Garden Avenue.
There will be another mobile market 2nd Harvest free food distribution in Cusick on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at the Kalispel Casino from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. while supplies last.
The casino is located at 189 Qlispe River Way, Cusick.
Let’s Vike It this week
NEWPORT – Let’s Vike It, an annual Viking-era faire in Newport returns for its third year from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Newport City Park. There will also be an evening vendor event from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11.
This year, the event is taking new directions as it traces the Silk Road and Norse inclusion along that historic path.
Other activities include live entertainment, combat, forging, Norsethemed vendors, crafting, classes, historical booths, a Norse museum, a Viking village, live demonstrations and a raffle. The event is free for all ages and family friendly.
