NEWPORT - Public Utility District No. 1 of Pend Oreille County (PUD) is launching a new paperless billing campaign, giving customers a simple way to receive their bills electronically while helping reduce the cost of printing and mailing paper statements.
Customers who sign up for paperless billing during the campaign will receive a one-time $5 bill credit. Once enrolled, customers will receive their monthly bills electronically rather than through the mail, making bills easier to access while helping reduce paper and postage costs.
“Paperless billing is a small change that benefits both our customers and the PUD,” said Sarah Holderman, Director of Customer Services for the PUD. “Customers get the convenience of having their bills delivered right to their inbox, and the PUD can reduce the money we spend printing and mailing thousands of paper statements every month. That’s money we can put toward serving our customers and maintaining the electric system.”
Other Washington PUDs have implemented similar programs and reported significant savings from reduced printing and mailing costs. Mason County PUD 3, for example, reported saving more than $50,000 in printing and shipping costs in 2024 through its paperless billing program.
Customers can sign up by visiting the PUD’s website or by calling the PUD at 509-447-3137. The campaign will run through Thursday, Oct. 8, to coincide with the end of Public Power Week.
The following conditions apply: The promotion is limited to one $5 credit per customer number, not per account.
Customers must remain enrolled in paperless billing for a minimum of six months to receive the credit.
Customers who are already enrolled in paperless billing are not eligible for the promotion.
