NEWPORT – How do you attract the attention of the 20,000 drivers that pass through Newport daily? How do you let them know that Newport has a lot to offer? That was the challenge tackled by the Newport Creative District.

The solution was a visitor kiosk in a highly visible location that encouraged travelers to start their adventure in Newport and provided current up-to-date information about places to stay, places to eat and things to do.

The Newport Creative District was able to complete the project thanks to partnerships with WaFd Bank and Pend Oreille Events, along with funding from Washington State Arts Commission. The “kiosk” has been installed in the WaFd parking lot on Union Ave.

“We are very grateful to WaFd Bank for leasing the space for the signage,” said Linda Cassella from the Newport Creative District. The QR codes on the sign are linked to the Pend Oreille Events app.

“The POE site was perfect for meeting our vision as it is continually updated. They are an incredible partner for this project.”
