Good Old Days

A boy asked his parents what it was like when they were young, They said played outside with the neighbor kids until then setting sun They were given chores to do like cleaning their rooms and taking out trash, washing the dishes, and mowing the lawn and sometimes awarded with cash.

They would get early for breakfast, and then catch the bus to school, Then gather with friends in the courtyard trying hard to act real cool.

They would make plans for after school or the upcoming weekend, Friday’s school ballgame or a movie if they had any money to spend.

Go to church on Sunday if their parents could roust them out of bed, they usually could by given the choice to clean the bathroom instead.

So, after church was over they we take a scenic route home, Mother prepared a great meal, they would help do the dishes when done.

Sometimes there were school dances, other times they would go on hikes, Often go over to friend’s houses, other times go for a ride on their bikes.

Then as they grew older, their parents would let them borrow their car, They could drive around town with their friends, but not really go very far.

Occasionally they would go camping, with parents, sometimes with friends, they sang songs, played games, walked in the woods, the fun would never end.

Their dad said they call them the good ole days, never to be there again, I tell you now, these are your Good Ole Days, so let the fond memories begin.
