Spartan runners keep steady pace

ATHOL — The Priest River Lamanna High School cross country team is keeping a steady pace.

Priest River travelled Saturday, Sept. 12 to Farragut State Park by Athol for the Timberlake Invitational.

In the varsity men’s 5,000-meter, Daniel Gunkle finished 57th with a time of 18:19.38, while Maxwell Hewitt finished 121st with a time of 21:11.16.

At the Libby Cross Country Meet at Cabinet View Golf Club in Libby, Gunkle led the varsity men’s 5,000-meter, finishing 53rd after clocking in at 18:42.93. Ailish McLaimtaig led the women, finishing 91st after clocking in at 27:10.85.

Next week, they travel Tuesday, Sept. 22 to Bonners Ferry High School for the Bonners Ferry Invite, with the varsity/junior varsity men’s 5,000-meter at 3:15 p.m. and the varsity/junior varsity women’s at 2:30 p.m.
