Newport auto licensing office closed for two days

NEWPORT — The Newport Auto Licensing Office will be closed Thursday and Friday, Sept. 17–18, due to staffing.

Customers who need vehicle licensing services during this time may visit one of the following nearby licensing offices:

• Deer Park Vehicle Licensing, 519 S. Fir Ave., Deer Park

• Ione Vehicle Licensing, 208 Blackwell St., Ione

• North Spokane Auto Licensing, 10208 N. Division St., Suite 101, Spokane Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and visit an alternative licensing office if they need services while the Newport office is closed. The Newport Auto Licensing Office is expected to reopen Monday, Sept. 21.

Check with the individual office for current hours and available services before traveling.

Bagels with the Board moves to Metaline

NEWPORT — Bagels with the Board will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, a chance to meet with the Pend Oreille County Commissioners, at the Metaline Town Hall, 101 Housing Drive.

Democrats hold AppleFest 2026

NEWPORT — The Pend Oreille Democrats are holding 2026 AppleFest Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Usk Community Hall, 2442 Black Rd.

Doors open at noon and lunch will be served at 1 p.m., featuring vegetarian or beef chili, cornbread, salads and more. Admission is by donation and children are welcome.

There will be live music, a silent auction, games and a dessert dash. Carmela Conroy, candidate for the 5th Congressional District, will be in attendance.
