Lady Spartans host Bonners Ferry

PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna High School girls’ soccer team played Kellogg at home Tuesday, Sept. 22 after the newspaper’s deadline. Results from that game will be in next week’s Miner. Priest River hosts Bonners Ferry Saturday, Sept. 26 for the last scheduled home game at 4 p.m. Then it’s off to Timberlake Tuesday, Sept. 29; That game also starts at 4 p.m.

Kellogg breaks Spartan win streak

PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River Lamanna High School volleyball team’s six-game win streak was broken last week.

Priest River (2-1, 6-2) visited St. Maries (1-2, 3-3) Tuesday, Sept. 15, winning 3-0 in straight sets. St. Maries got off to a slow start, allowing the Spartans to take the first set 25-13. Priest River went on to take the second and third sets 25-21 and 25-20.

However, the Spartans’ win streak was broken when they visited Kellogg (5-0, 7-0) Thursday, Sept. 17, losing 3-0. Priest River dropped the first set 2025 and continued to fall behind in the second and third sets, which Kellogg took 25-13 and 25-12.

Priest River next hosted Riverside Monday, Sept. 21, then Kellogg Tuesday, Sept. 22. Scores for either were not available by The Miner’s weekly deadline.

Later this week, Priest River hosts Grangeville at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, before hosting St. Maries at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Lady Rangers fall thrice

IONE — The Selkirk High School volleyball team faced a series of losses in the last week.

Selkirk (0-2, 1-3) visited Springdale (3-0, 5-0) Tuesday, Sept. 15, losing 3-0. The Rangers trailed behind Springdale for all three sets, dropping the first 9-25, the second 6-25 and the third 13-25.

They gave up two more away games Saturday, Sept. 19, losing 3-1 against Republic (2-1, 3-4) and 3-0 against Curlew (1-1, 1-2).

The Rangers next hosted Columbia Tuesday, Sept. 22, after The Miner’s weekly deadline. Next week, the Rangers host the Cusick Panthers at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Spartan football 2-1 after defeating Logos

PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River football team beat the visiting Logos Knights of Moscow, Idaho, Friday night, 26-7 at home.

The Knights were up 7-0 heading into the second quarter when Priest River took over. The Spartans scored 14 in the second quarter and six in both the third and fourth quarters for the win.

Priest River travels to play border rival Newport Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. The Grizzlies are 2-1 after successful outings against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/ Washtucna/Kahlotus and Kettle Falls.
