CUSICK – The Cusick Panthers put together one of their most complete performances of the season Friday night on Homecoming against Wellpinit. The 3-0 visitors were ranked in the top 10 teams in the state for 2B schools.
“The boys came out and set the tone early, dominated the run game, and earned a great team win against an undefeated, state-ranked Wellpinit team on Homecoming night,” coach Dustin Person said.
Cusick led 56-14 at the half and would continued to dominate to a 62-20 victor.
The Panthers finished with nearly 500 yards of total offense, including 359 yards on the ground.
The rushing duo of Judah Sutton and Steve Mathis combined for 281 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Sutton led the way with 157 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries while also converting five extra points. Mathis added 124 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries, averaging more than 17 yards per rush.
Daniel Lyon scored both on the ground and through the air while totaling 123 yards of offense. Kaden Person threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Mathis led the Panthers with six tackles, while Zach Mcguire, Geo Raheem, Trevin Williams and Charles Whitford each recorded four tackles.
Cusick travels to Springdale Friday, Oct. 2, to play at 7 p.m.
