TIMBERLAKE – For only the second time in Priest River history, the boys’ varsity soccer team prevailed over the Timberlake Tigers, beating them handily, 5-0 in an away game Tuesday, Sept. 29. The last time was in 2024, the last played season for the Spartans, under the leadership of coach Ryan Carruth.
First up was a banger from senior captain Gunnar Petit assisted by fellow senior captain Daryan Haidari. Then the next smash was done by junior Jaden Sams.
After halftime, Haidari got on fire with three goals in a row with at least one amazing assist from way back by defensive standout Yogi Greenwood. Another was assisted by Petit to complete Haidari’s second hat trick of the season.
Goalie Ryker Petit once again had many saves, and junior Derek Jenks was outstanding on defense.
The Spartans went up against CDA Charter on Sept. 30, losing 9-1. Priest River travels to Districts Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1 p.m. in Post Falls.
