Newport wins against Colfax in exciting finale

NEWPORT – The Newport football team made due with what they had and pulled off what some might have thought not possible: they beat Colfax 23-20 Friday night on the road.

“We are really proud of our guys for pulling off this win over Colfax,” Newport coach Mark Duxbury said. “It’s hard to win in Colfax, and under the current circumstances, I don’t think many people gave us much of a chance. We have several guys out with injuries, but we were able to find a way to win through teamwork and perseverance.”
