NEWPORT — The Newport City Council resolved to support Newport Hospital and Health Services’ $51 million expansion and renovation bond at their Monday, Oct. 5 meeting.
The council’s resolution passed 2-1, with council member Nathan Weathers abstaining. Per Weathers’ recommendation, the resolution passed with an amendment to wording describing access to reliable, high-quality and nearby healthcare services as “essential” to the well-being of individuals in the community. “Essential” was amended to “extremely helpful.”
