BLANCHARD – Residents are encouraged to attend upcoming meetings concerning the strategic plan for West Bonner County School District. There will be a focus group meeting at the Blanchard Community Center on Monday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. Another meeting will be the following day Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Infinity Café in Priest River, 12-1 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The WBCSD is partnering with RLR Leadership Consulting to update the community plan, which is due to the Idaho Department of Education by Jan. 2027. WBCSD Superintendent Kim Spacek said the plan is, “Designed to build clarity, alignment, and action, the multi-month initiative will actively engage staff, leadership, and community stakeholders to shape a shared long-term vision and actionable roadmap for the future.”
A strategic plan serves as a vital framework aligning an organization’s goals, resources, and actions with its long-term vision. Through this partnership with RLR Leadership Consulting, WBCSD aims to strengthen stakeholder confidence, align internal systems, and ensure adaptability in a changing environment.
“This strategic planning initiative directly aligns with the State of Idaho statutory requirement for school districts to maintain a comprehensive, board-approved strategic plan,” Spacek said.
Led by RLR Leadership Consulting, the proven, consensus-building process will move through seven comprehensive phases: • Discovery & Planning: Project definition, calendar establishment, milestones, initial board/executive awareness, and review of existing data dashboards.
• Engagement & Listening: Conducting targeted focus groups and administering community surveys with comprehensive debriefs.
• Core Planning Team Development: Convening a dedicated core team, reviewing exemplar plans and identifying preferred design elements.
• Goal & Pillar Creation: Structured facilitation for department-level draft goals, culminating in a consensus process to finalize 4 to 5 core organizational goals.
• Success Indicators & Measures: Crafting evidence-based performance indicators through a collaborative feedback and rotation model to guarantee clarity and alignment.
• Vision & Mission Drafting (Optional): Facilitated exercises utilizing a fist-tofive consensus protocol to refine or draft mission and vision statements.
• Final Strategic Plan: Producing an executive- and board-ready document featuring professional layout, design, and stakeholder presentation drafts.
The planning process will run over the coming months, incorporating extensive data analysis, community listening sessions, and core team workshops. Community members, staff, and external partners will have opportunities to provide input as the framework takes shape.
