REARDAN — Several Cusick School District runners made top-half finishes at the NE1B D6 League Championship Meet, Friday, Oct. 16 at the Reardan Cross Country Course.

The Panther boys finished third of eight teams, their score 74.

“Our boys ran alright,” coach Sophia Larson says. “But we were beaten by Valley Christian and Garfield Palouse.”

Not far behind were eighth-grader Abram Sandwick, who finished 14th with a time of 19:28.4, and sophomore Nick Sandwick, who finished 21st with a time of 20:10.

Sophomore James Lilya clocked in at 22:33.8, finishing 39th. Eighth-grader Rylen Stam-Adams clocked in at 23:06.8, finishing 42nd and setting a personal record.

In the girls’ varsity 5,000-meter, sophomore Jazlyn Kelso finished 14th of 32 runners with a time of 25:17.1.

“We have some work to do before the Regional meet,” Larson says. “But it will be nice to run the same course again with many of the same runners.”

Cusick next runs in the District 5/6 1B/2B Regional Championship Saturday, Oct. 31 at Reardan Cross Country Course. The boys’ 5/6 varsity 1B 5,000-meter is at 11 a.m., and the girls’ 5/6 varsity 1B/2B 5,000-meter is at 11:45 a.m.
