George Edward Cook, Jr., 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 3, 202 5, surrounded by his family.

Born October 4, 1948, in Bradfordsville, Kentucky, George grew up with a deep love for learning, faith, and family. After graduating from high school, he went to UEI Electron to become an electrical engineer. Then he earned an associate degree in electronics from Rick’s College in Idaho. He went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in educational psychology. George ultimately discovered his true professional passion was information technology.

He worked for Storage Technology Corporation (STC) as a field technician and later as a manager, where he became known not only for his technical expertise but also for his kindness, integrity, and leadership. Twice honored as “Manager of the Year,” George mentored countless colleagues, always leading with compassion and respect.

In 1974, at a dance, George first saw Kathy, the love of his life, and immediately knew she was the one he would marry. Together, they built a marriage of 51 beautiful years, raising three sons and four daughters in a home filled with music, faith, laughter, and abiding love. A devoted father, George, would do anything in the world for his wife and children. He had a gift for making everyone he met feel special, often greeting them with a song that carried their name.

Faith was the foundation of George’s life. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully in many roles, including Bishop. His service to the Lord was matched by his service to others, and he was blessed with the joy of baptizing all of his children into the faith he cherished. His love for Heavenly Father and our Savior guided every aspect of his life.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ernestine Cook, his brother Larry Cook, and his son Preston Cook. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Cook, his children Eugene (Cyndi) Mosher, Amy (Jeremy) Cates, Tara Cook, Camilla (Michael) Dean, Heather (Jeff) Bowman, Chris (Elizabeth) Cook many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a large extended family who will miss him dearly.

George will be remembered as a man who loved unconditionally, who lived his faith fully, and who left behind a legacy of compassion, service, and joy. His steady presence, warm humor, and heartfelt songs will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
