Richard William Blaine Sr., aka “Dicky” beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at the age of 81. He was married to the love of his life, Janice Blaine, for 54 years and together they built a family filled with love and devotion.
Dicky was the proud father of five children: Trenda (Doug), Dianna (Nate), William, Lucas (Angelina), and Rick, who preceded him in death. He was also a cherished grandfather to Josh, Hanna, Erika (Judd), Cyrus, Jaggar, Elouera and great grandfather to Chancey, TJ, Mackenzie and Carlee all of whom brought him endless joy.
Born on June 7th, 1944, in Riverdale, MD to Gilbert Hildreth Blaine and Anna Mary Fuller, both who have both preceded him in death. Dicky grew up in a large and loving family. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jon and Betty and is survived by his brother Tom and sisters Bernice and Barbara.
For the past 50 years, Dicky made his home on his beloved Prater Mountain property, where he found peace and fulfillment surrounded by nature, family, and the life he built with Janice. Dicky was so happy to be able to attend the 9th annual Panhandle Blues festival this year which is hosted on the property annually in the 2nd weekend of September.
For over 30 years, Dicky dedicated himself as a volunteer baseball and wrestling coach, inspiring and mentoring countless young athletes. His commitment to his community and the positive impact he left on generations of youth will never be forgotten. His other cherished passions were wine making (If you know you know but be careful lol), woodworking, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley.
Dicky will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his passion for coaching, mentoring, woodworking and the deep roots he nurtured in the place he called home. His life was a testament to love, commitment, and strength.
