Larry Elam Montgomery
Larry Elam Montgomery, 79, passed away on November 13, 2025. Born in Bremerton, Washington, he spent his youth along the shores of the Puget Sound before graduating from East Bremerton High School and joining the U.S. Army in 1965. He served with bravery during the Vietnam War and received numerous commendations, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star.
A steadfast believer in God and in His son, Jesus Christ, Larry lived a life anchored in faith, integrity, and service. He coached his sons’ sports teams for many years and served as a referee and umpire, positively influencing countless young athletes.
After retiring, Larry and his wife, Rita, settled in Newport, Washington, where they made a home along the Pend Oreille River. He taught Sunday School, took part in church revivals, and remained devoted to serving his church and community.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Vinita Owens and Clarence Montgomery and his sisters, Sandy Albrecht and Mary K. Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Rita, and their children, Dana Burke, Micah Montgomery, and Aaron Montgomery.
A funeral service will be held on December 1st at 10:00 a.m. at Harvest Community Fellowship, in Newport WA, followed by a military burial at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery in Cheney, Washington.
