Steven David Sams (Steve) 78 passed away peacefully at his home on November 7,2025.

Steve was born in Spokane to Herb and Lilly Sams of Elk, Washington, on June 17, 1947 where he was raised with his six siblings, Lois, Laura, Stan, Stacy, Sandy and Marlene.

He graduated in 1965 from Riverside High School and worked hard ever since. He started working with his dad in the drilling business for a few years and then moved on to logging. Towards the end of his career he worked for a couple mills cruising and buying timber and finishing his career at JD Lumber. Steve was also a volunteer firefighter for many years.

He truly loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He loved elk hunting taking 42 elk in all his years of hunting.

Steve was married to Judy (Baker) from 1970 to 2024. In that time raising four children who he loved very much, Ryan, Ramon (Courtney), Riley (Christin), and Rachel (Jason), who gave him five grandchildren, Bailey, Saeed, Sawyer, Dani and Daisy; and one great-grandchild, Ryder.

He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, sister Lois, brother Stan and brother Sandy.

He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank everyone near and far for the outpouring of support. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Special thanks to Horizon Hospice for their excellent service.
