Edward was a dedicated firefighter, Fire Chief, and entrepreneur who loved serving his community. On October 3,1963, he met the love of his life, JoAnna L. (Barton) Mason. They were married on November 30, 1963, and shared a lifelong love and devotion that was evident to all who knew them. He is survived by his loving wife, JoAnna Mason; his daughter, Sarah (Darryl) Witter; and his sister, Karen Mason of Spokane. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Mason on April 16, 2023; his parents; and his sister, Joanne (Gene) Krotke.

Edward was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to a large and growing family: Hannah (Andrew) Peters and their children Aeryn, Arlo, and Arrow; Elizabeth Hunt and her children Wyatt and Konrad; Abigail (Fred) Arnold and their children Freddie, Cotton, Piper, and Goldie; Samuel (Katelyne) Rogers and their children Stella, Stetson, and Tessa; Olivia Witter, fiancé Kade Zorica; and Dalton Witter, fiancé Megan, and daughter Maesyn.

He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, including the family of his late sister Joanne: Lori (Larry) Haydon and Randy (Dana), as well as his sister Karen’s children, Charlie (Stephanie), Paul (Lucy), and Alicia (Patrick).

Edward was the funniest, kindest man, known for his generosity and his deep love for others. He loved the Lord and made it his mission to let everyone he met know that Jesus loved them. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he truly loved his years in the fire service. He brought joy wherever he went—always playing, teasing, and laughing—and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on May 17 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at The Old Creamery, 18 N. Park Ave., Deer Park, Washington 99006.
