OLDTOWN Dennis “Rusty” Bartel, born February 14, 1938, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2026. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen Bartel and survived by daughters Denise and Maria, son-in-law Don, granddaughter Nora, and his sister Carol as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He moved to North Idaho in 1976 and became well known for his skillful woodworking, his kindness and honesty, and his joy of storytelling and laughter around the old wood stove in his cabinet shop with his faithful dog Blue always by his side.
