Judy (Flanagan) Luhr

Judy (Flanagan) Luhr

METALINE FALLS

Judy was born in Wadena Minnesota, the first of nine kids. Her family relocated to the Metaline, Metaline Falls area in 1949. She attended grade school and high school in Metaline Falls, graduating in 1958. Following graduation, she married Everett Flanagan. They started a family two years later, eventually having three children, Tony, Caralee, and Shawn. Shawn was lost in a car accident in 1997. Losing a child was the most difficult thing she faced in her lifetime. Her and Everett were married for 46 years until his passing in 2005. She remarried to Howard (Butch) Luhr in 2009. They were married 16 years until her death on December 20, 2025 at the age of 85. Jesus Christ was the most important person in her life, accepting him as Lord and Savior in 1967. Judy was chosen by God to be a light to her family and those around her, a true servant of Jesus Christ. She was still teaching Sunday School to 1st graders and helping with Vacation Bible School at 84 years old.

Judy was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed baking deserts, cookies, pies, and cakes. She made and sold birthday and wedding cakes in the 1970’s and 1980’s. She enjoyed canning and making jellies and jams. Trips were made each year to pick huckleberries, one of her favorite things to do.

Judy was also an artist. Her home is filled with her paintings, many have been passed down to family members, portraits of grandkids and great grandkids, landscapes, flowers, and butterflies.

Judy’s later years were spent attending grandkid and great grandkid events. Birthdays and family Christmases were very important to her. The whole family looked forward to her Christmas cookies, especially the lemon bars and cherry bonbons. Known to her family as GG (great grandma), she will be greatly missed by her 7 grandkids and 9 great grandkids.

Judy loved her community and her one instruction was that her funeral be held there. Her funeral service will be held in the Metaline City Park, 4:00 pm, on Sunday, June 28th. Her family requests those attending to bring your own chairs. Come and enjoy a time of remembrance!
