Luitgard Margrete Griffin

Luitgard Margrete Griffin, lovingly known as “Margret,” was truly one of a kind. Born on March 2, 1933, in Bamberg, Germany, to Johann and Betty Wagner, she trained as a skilled seamstress in her youth. In 1951, she met the love of her life, Albert Leroy Griffin. They married on December 6, 1952, beginning a devoted partnership of over 60 years. During Albert’s military career, they lived across the country and welcomed three children: Marlin, Susan, and Sandra, along with their cherished niece, Denise. The family eventually settled in Spokane, Washington, where Margret’s talents thrived. Together, A1 and Margarete successfully owned and operated three family businesses: two furniture and upholstery stores in Spokane and Newport, and As Restaurant near Riverside, which proudly celebrated Margret’s German heritage.
In retirement, they enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, and playing pool daily in Deer Park, Washington, before becoming “Snow Turkeys” in Mesa, Arizona. Following Albert’s passing in 2014, Margret continued to live a vibrant life between Washington and Arizona. She passed away peacefully at home on May 5, 2026, surrounded by family, after spending her final months cared for by her daughter, Susan.
Margret will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, talented businesswoman, and cherished grandmother.
Survivors: She is survived by her children, Marlin Griffin, Susan (and spouse) Johnson, and Sandra (and spouse) Blake: her niece, Denise; her sister, seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert, her parents, and her older brother and sister Elfrieda De Ambros.
