Mary Ann Witherow
Mary Ann Witherow

Mary Ann Witherow ( Jackson), 90, of Post Falls, ID went home to her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2026. She was born in Spirit Lake, Idaho on March 13, 1935, to Samuel and Anna Jackson. Mary Ann was an only child. When she was young, her family moved to Eureka, California where she attended school and met the love of her life, Donald Witherow.
They married on August 31, 1951. They were members of the Salvation Army and played in the band. They enjoyed this very much and kept in contact with members of the Salvation Army throughout the years. In 1963, they moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho and shortly thereafter, moved to Blanchard, Idaho where their kids grew up. They were part of the Blanchard Community Church for many years. Both Don and Mary Ann also loved to camp and fish and some of their favorite spots was in Libby, Montana and Trout Lake, Washington and any place at the Ocean. Mary Ann loved to have a big garden and kept an immaculate yard with beautiful flowers. She also loved to cook and many of the kids in Blanchard raved about what a good cook she was.
In 1983, Don and Mary Ann moved to Coeur dAlene, ID where they resided until moving to Portland, Oregon in 1988. Mary Ann worked at the Forest Service in Portland and loved it. She spent the next ten years working there until retirement. In 1992, they moved to Vancouver, WA and spent the next seven years there before moving to Amboy, Washington in 1999. This gave them the freedom to spend time with their family and do what they loved to do, which was traveling and camping/fishing. In 2012, Don and Mary Ann moved to Battle Ground, Washington. When Don died in 2012, Mary Ann continued to live there until-January of 2020, when she moved in with her son (John) and family and resided with them until July of 202 5. What was supposed to be a visit to see her daughters in North Idaho last summer, ended up being a permanent residency in North Idaho until her death in February of 2026. We are grateful she “graduated” to heaven and is reunited with her loved ones.
She is survived by her children: Kelly (David)Loos, John (Heather) Witherow, Susie (Trevor) Abeln, her grandchildren: Megan Baker, Tyler Abeln, Sam Loos, Joe (Courtney) Loos, Micah Witherow, Jake Witherow, and Caleb Witherow.
MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Don Witherow, her daughter, Kathy Witherow, her parents Samuel and Anna Jackson.
Per the family’s request, no services will be held but she did want the family to go on a picnic together, which we will honor.
