LeRoy Wallace Leland went home to be with his heavenly Father on July 25, 2026, after a battle with cancer. LeRoy was 83. He was much loved.

LeRoy was born in Seattle, Washington, the third of seven children born to Wallace Ford (“Bud”) Leland and Zuella Zeona (“Zu”) Leland. He met the love of his life, Emma (“Emmie”) Jones, when he was just 16. They married three years later.

The man LeRoy became over the next 64 years reflected the love he and Emmie shared and their abiding faith in God. He evolved from a juvenile delinquent throwing apples at a future saint (i.e., Emmie), wrecking cars and throwing beer cans at police in hot pursuit, to a father who never stopped taking care of his family, to a grandfather that made his own children envious of his grandchildren, and to a man who helped and contributed to his community while always being a faithful servant of God.

LeRoy began his work life as a draftsman and moved on to management, sales, and training positions in the Seattle and Spokane areas before retiring in 2005. He devoted the next 21 years to family, friends, and fun, sailing his 16-foot Hobie Cat on Diamond Lake, golfing twice a week with friends, meeting friends for breakfast, leading Bible study groups, traveling for annual golf trips with his brothers, building furniture in his shop, and spending quiet days with Emmie at the lake. Even in his final days, he never stopped loving people and thanking God for all that all that he had been given.

LeRoy is a testament to God’s tenacity, patience and enduring hope and love. He had the knack of acknowledging his faults and mistakes and then using them to increase his gratitude and his love and acceptance of each person he met. To quote LeRoy, he lived in a “Category 5 hurricane of God’s grace and mercy.” He will be missed.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his brother Bud L.

Leland. LeRoy is survived by Emmie, his children Collette (Edward), Peter (Yvette), Lisa (Todd), and Sean (Erika); his 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; his three brothers and two sisters; and 22 nieces and nephews.

LeRoy’s family will announce a celebration of his life at a later date.
