Mark Wayne Miller, 69, was born on September 21, 1956, in Spokane, Washington, to Orville and Ruth Miller. He passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, in Lacey, Washington, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mark graduated from Selkirk High School in lone, Washington class of 1975. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of E-5 Sergeant and spent 4 years stationed in Germany. His years of service reflected the discipline, determination, and strength that was a part of who Mark was throughout his life. A man of many talents, Mark worked as a carpenter, artist, and helicopter logger. He was happiest when he was creating, building, learning, or working with his hands. His love of woodworking gave him countless opportunities to turn ideas into something tangible, while his artistic side found expression through drawing, creating, and writing poetry.
Mark enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: fishing, hunting, camping, cutting wood, cooking, and spending time pursuing whatever new interest had captured his curiosity. He was meticulous in his work, open-minded in his thinking, and endlessly curious about the world around him. He was creative, but also sarcastic, fun, and genuinely funny. Those who knew Mark will remember his quick wit, his unique sense of humor, and the many stories and moments that made him unforgettable.
Mark was a beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his children, Sara Naomi Miller, Jennifer Lynn Miller, Larissa Noel Miller, Elijah Jacob, Miller, brothers; Tom Miller, Jay Miller, and Scott Miller; sister, Carey Anne Smith; and his nine grandchildren, Taylor Borders, Brandon Borders, Bradyn Rice, Mallory Rice, Avery Miller, Emalyn Miller, Liam Miller, Jona Miller, and Lia Miller. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Ruth Miller.
Mark leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the things he created with his hands, the words he put to paper, the knowledge he shared, the laughter he brought to others, and the love he gave to his family. His life was one of hard work, creativity, curiosity, adventure, and individuality.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
